Is the Vita-mix blender-thingey any good?

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

If so, post any drawbacks.
And maybe some recipe links?
OH, and i myself enjoyed the demos.

It's very expensive and my friend ended up not even using the one she bought (I don't even know why she bought it).

I don't know of any recipe links. I do know that my friends and I really enjoyed the demos VitaMix did at the LA County Fair.

Cuisinart Food Processer – I bought on on impulse – what do I need it for?

Its an 11 cup with blender.

Can I now get rid of other small gadgets like my handi -chopper, salad shooter, etc?

I want to start preparing healthier foods and need ideas for this thing…….. what do you do with yours?

A food processor is a kitchen appliance used to facilitate various repetitive tasks in the process of preparation of food. Today, the term almost always refers to an electric-motor-driven appliance, although there are some manual devices also referred to as "food processors".

Food processors are similar to blenders in many ways. The primary difference is that food processors use swappable blades and disks (attachments) instead of a fixed blade. Also, their bowls are wider and shorter, a more appropriate shape for the solid or semi-solid foods usually worked in a food processor. Usually little or no liquid is required in the operation of the food processor unlike a blender, which requires some amount of liquid to move the particles around its blade.

Its functions normally consist of:

Slicing/chopping vegetables
Grinding items such as nuts, seeds (eg spices), meat, or dried fruit
Shredding or grating cheese or vegetables
Pureeing
Mixing and kneading doughs

Does anyone have or use the Braun Skim Milk Disc? Is there anything else out there like it?

My Braun Handblender (immersion style) is OLD (like 20 years old) but still works great and I absolutely LOVE the skim milk disc – you can whip skim milk into a thick, rich froth (I can trick the kids into thinking it's whipped cream). I mean, it is REALLY rich and thick. I can easily use it in place of whipped cream (for a topping only – doesn't stand up to folding) and not miss the real thing.

I'm afraid my blender may die someday and I won't be able to use the disc (it only fits old models). Are there any new appliances that will whip skim milk like that?

No idea, sorry but my wife is not here to help you…
