Saturday, August 29th, 2009

just follow the manual,, no manual? just clean regularly with warm water and soap,, rinse well,, oh and make sure you take it apart to clean ALL the little grooves and pieces, especially the part with the little blades!! i have worked on lot of blenders that had jammed and burnt out blades because the owners never cleaned them!!!!

I use my blender to make many things:

Protein Shakes
Pasta sauce
salsa
salad dressings

bread crumbs, salsa, sun-dried tomato pesto with walnuts or toasted pine nuts, basil pesto the same way, olive tapenade, milkshakes, black bean and bell pepper dip, guacamole with tomatillos and jalapenos, chocolate ice cream base mixture (dark chocolate, sugar, hot heavy cream mixed with milk, and vanilla), grated parmesan cheese, herb cream cheese, whipped cream with vanilla, chili powder from dried habaneros and chiles de arbol, tomato bisque, and more

What’s your favorite smoothie mixture?

My typical smoothie in a vita-mix blender. I usually drink a smoothie with every meal, it keeps my energy up.
7 bananas, 4 tbl peanut butter, raw chocolate powder and 2 handful of ice.
one whole ripe cantaloupe and ice
2 large avocados with a cup of agave nectar and ice
6 large ripe tomatoes and ice

smoothies are great for energy and are sooooo refreshing especially when it’s hot! i love them.
my favourite is banana, orange, pineapple, mango and ice. yum :)
enjoy your smoothie!!!

Does anyone have a Vita-mix(or any other "power food blender"?

Monday, August 17th, 2009

I’ve had one for a couple years. I’ve never really used it that much except in the use of smoothies and milk shakes. I’m trying to loose some weight(10-15 pounds). I’m within the weight range I need to be, but I do have some belly fat and am interested in using the vita mix to help me with my dieting. What are some power shakes, or veggie juice recipes that actually taste good, but are healthy too? Thanks!

Lots of ideas here:
