Need help choosing an immersion/hand/stick blender. KitchenAid or Bamix?

Saturday, September 5th, 2009

I’m looking for a new gadget for my kitchen, and I’ve settled on an immersion blender. My research has led me to choose between either the KitchenAid KHB300 (http://www.amazon.com/…) or the Bamix Delux (http://www.cooking.com…). The KA would be $80, the Bamix would be $130.

The Bamix is the industry-accepted top of the line immersion blender. The KitchenAid is the runner up.

My question is addressed to any Bamix owners: Do the different blades really make any difference when performing different tasks? (like the whisk blade for mayo, the beater for smoothies, the mincer for soups, etc.) For those who have the KA; how does it perform with non-soup-blending activities?

I have the KA and like it just fine. The way I see it is that it’s a blender, and a counter top blender doesn’t have all those attachments, so why bother on a hand held one. I went with keeping it simple – didn’t want a bunch of attachments.

how does the vita-mix blender compare to the kitchen aid blender?

I have heard that the Vita-mix blender is better to make nut milk and other raw food things but would the kitchen aid blender work just the same? Thank you! = ]

it’s awesome! I use to have a kitchen aid blender but got a vita-mix at a costco road show a year ago – it works great. i use it every day to make smoothies and really haven’t pushed it to the limit with nut butters but i’m sure it would do wonders!
