I have a Kitchen Aid blender (model KSB465WHO), is it supposed to be so loud?

Monday, September 21st, 2009

I bought this blender about two months ago at Sears because it was on sale and now, when I use it, it makes a really noisy sound… Is this normal?

I am sorry to say but………… I am glad I am not the only one who thinks that.

I purchased mine because I do power shakes everyday and the cheaper ones have such a high pitch to them ….I figured KitchenAid would be better.
It doesn’t have that high pitch, but more of a grinding type noise ….I was kind of disappointed …I think it is more in the blades.
I have to find the sweet {spot so to speak} by rotating the position on the blender so it’ not as loud. At some point I will replace the blades to see if I am correct in my assumption.

Can I make pumpkin pie crust without using a food processor?

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

Last time I used my $45 blender and ended up making a massive mess. The butter ended up caking to the bottom and freezing the thing up… very frustrating!

Now I’m making it again and I used the whisk on my kitchenaid stand mixer (even though I know I’m not supposed to but what was I to do?) and my "dough" was really crumbly and didn’t stick together very well. I stuck it in the fridge to cool anyways, and so here I wait.

Have I set myself up for UN-success?

I don’t use an electric tool for making pie crust. I just cut the butter into the flour mix using a fork.

There appears to be rust around the screw on the top of my new Kitchen Aide blender’s blade. Is this normal?

The blender has only been used about 10 times.

It probably is normal, for some twisted reason(economics) some companies use stainless steal parts for parts that contact food and then use a non stainless screw to secure the part. The blade is most likely stainless steel and the attaching screw may be too but the shaft it is attached to probably is not.

Pink Appliances :)?

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Okay, probably from reading my older questions about appliances you are like, "PINK!?! I JUST ANSWERES A QUESTION ABOUT TEAL ONES!!!" Well, I have came to the conclusion that I am going to use PINK appliances. Now I need some help. Are these trusted brands/products that work well:

Pink Bar Blender By Waring $69.95 (I thought that this one sounded a little to cheap, even though it is only 2-speeded)

Pink Stand Mixer (5-qt.) Artisan By KitchenAid $299.95

Calphalon

Pink Food Processor (12-c.) Cook for the Cure® By KitchenAid $199.95

Wusthof

and

Le Creuset

Also, are the Rachael Ray Dot over Dot, Groovy Mums, and all of those trays and bowls and stuff useful? I am planing to have people over after remodeling my house, so I need some kind of durable stuff. Oh, and do people actually use her Garbage Bowl? They look useful, but then I think, "Would I remeber to actually USE it?" Thanks!
Also, could you tell me some websites to get pink appliances besides The Food Network Store and Williams-Sonoma?
Also, are these trusted and durable?

Chrome Bar Blender (56-oz.) By KitchenAid $129.95

Supreme Super 600 Blender (60-oz.) By Cuisinart $99.95

Chrome Food Processor (12-c.) By KitchenAid $199.95

I saw some stuff at Khols. Oh yeah the garbage bowl, saw that. You wouldn’t probably use is for garbage but it would get used for something.

Can anyone recommend the best food processor and blender to buy I hve alarge family but small kitchen.?

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

I want to purchase a food processor and blender but iahve a very small kitchen but a big family so it would have to be a 2 litre one. Can anyone advise me which one is best on the market at the moment.

How much do you want to spend? The best well known brand on the market is a Vitamix blender, or a cheaper option is a Rhino Blender. Google them. You wouldn’t need a food processor as well as one of these blenders as they will tackle just about everything but they are expensive.
