How would we decorate our kitchen?

Monday, December 14th, 2009

In the future my husband and I want a gourmet style kitchen (fit to meet the needs of the cook, stainless steel appliances, big stove, big sink, island with pot and pans hanger) but with small vintage appliances (blender, tea pot, toaster, things like that.) Would it clash too much? Modern and vintage? Any ideas on how to do our kitchen?

if you are really nervous there are sites where you can design a whole room. but i say go for it. you could just but a few small things that are vintage and modern and see if you like it but i say go for it.

Chocolate is partly responsible for the discovery of which kitchen appliance in your home?

Answer choices: Toaster, Microwave, blender or freezer?

I’d be more interested to know where this particular appliance was ‘discovered’. Who discovered it, an archeologist or an explorer? Or did you mean invented instead of discovered?

Does anyone know where I can find cheap but good quality chef things for my kitchen.?

Such as blenders and mixers and stuff.

My friend is a chef and he uses higher end home stuff at home such as the Kitchenaide Professional Mixer. Going to Hobart usually requires rewiring your kitchen for the higher wattage and unless you are going into business, not really justifiable.

The link below is the blender that he uses (I know nothing about the company that the site is linked too-I was just looking for a photo and info on what he already has). Way more expensive than I would buy, but I don’t use a blender enough to justify that extra cost. You might very well do so especially if you entertain a lot.

For bakeware, your best bet is to find a local restaurant supply company. Bought 2 great aluminum sheet pans and they were only about $9 each and will never warp unlike the $7 ones I bought at local stores.

US models seem newer. Will they come to UK?

We are always 10yrs behind the yanks! for as long as I can remember!

Vita-mix or would a kitchenaid blender suffice?

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

I’m thinking of buying the vita mix blender at costco for $650. I’m only thinking so because I’ve seen a few infomercials of these powerful blenders taking whole fruit and vegetables and turning them into a healthy shake. Does a kitchenaid one do this as well?

I always wanted a Vitamix but bought a blendtec. After reading this review

I wish I had gone with the Vitamix. Either way, a high end blender is so awesome, I am happy i bought the Blendtec instead of a cheaper appliance. I was given a food processer and used it once. I can do everything with my one appliance and love it.
