The above answers are correct, hot water will do it. However, I would not use a blade or any sharp object on it. Remember, by taking your time to soak it (which is the key), you’ve made the rubber seal very soft and pliable. You risk nicking & damaging it in a way you may not even notice at first. This will shorten your seals lifespan, and then you’ll end up having to find a replacement part.

Soak it in hot/hot water for a few minuets. If that doesn’t work take a razor blade or sharp knife and place it under the edge turning it as you do, then gently pry it off so you don’t ruin it. i had this happen to me and I boiled water and let it soak until it came off,it took about 45 minuets.

it seems i remember something about using mayonnaise-slather it on,and let it soften the ring.i wouldn’t use a knife or razor though
