What does the term "cut in" mean in the kitchen?

I have a class called FACE (Family And Consumer Education) and i got a project i have to do and it asks what the term cut in means in the kitchen. I have to have a live presentation with a mixing bow, fork, and a pastry blender. So what does "cut in"?

It’s the method used to incorporate butter (or other solid fat) into dry ingredients, using the pastry blender. Generally you cut through the butter repeatedly until the mixture looks like cornmeal.

It usually means to mix cold butter into flour with knives, a pastry cutter, fork, etc. Look at the video at the link below to see this in action.
